Savasana

My yoga teacher Firat and I recorded this meditation after yoga class. I like the sound of it. Lay on the ground, close your eyes and follow along. Namaste.

Community Radio with Aloha

Honolulu March

kkcr

For some time now I’ve been involved with a sea of dedicated volunteers at a magical little community radio station on the Hawaiian Island of Kauai. It’sKKCR - delicious Hawaiian in the mornings, Electic and Political as heck as the week goes by. Then Friday is a stream of madness starting at 3 pm PT. It’s a great way to spend a Friday evening. My recommendation - get hooked on the island vibe and become a member. Mahalo Nui Loa

Haunted House

Ghouly Greetings

The Halloween edition of The Ronkatdelic Show! commences with a new un-named cut with lots of uh huh’s in it.

Tim-Tom returns and we find him at the Mystery House instead of his scheduled exclusive interview with Bootsy Collins. After a false start Tim-Tom gets more spooked than he planned on when his travels turn up a ghostly group of candidates for rehab rather than the spirits he was expecting.

The show concludes with Tears of a Ghost a from the Little Monsters CD, featuring George Clinton and Gary Scheider.

Gah!

Paul is Back! I’ve gotten sooo behind in posting DJ Paul V’s great shows. This is a sweet one with a killah mix of Beck’s Debra. I’ll do some catching up in the next few posts.

The Mashup thingy is really heating up. I met DJ Earworm on Friday in San Francisco’s dreamy North Beach. He’s working on a “Dummies” book on creating Mashups and he just got back from the MTV Awards where he was a guest DJ.

Shits ‘N Giggles from the Pod-o-Sphere

Be My Guest - 2005 03-02

Some fun bits from two of my favorite podcasts. The grandpappy and grandmammy of Podcasting Dawn and Drew dig deep into their thespian roots to riff on a script from Psycho Fan Jeff. Up next, one of my newer obsessions - a group of extroverted yucksters with great production quality. Is it real or is it Area 51?

Dig deep into your aggregator and add these shows to your subscriptions. You won’t be sorry. *Note: both are irreverent and sometimes dirty.

Enjoy,

2 Future Hits Now!

2 Future Hits Now!

The Power of Podcasting! Marc who manages bands and a label is creating a niche in a niche by getting a waive of the copyrights to some songs on the smaller labels. He exposed me to two great examples.

Mocean (pronounced Motion) Worker is a jazzy cat tutored from a fine lineage of some of jazz & r&b’s best producers. It shows. His infectious hit “Chick a Boom Boom Boom” on his new album “Enter the MOWO” will get you up from your seat. This is out on his own label (In the show I note that it’s out on the Palm label - that was his previous album.) You can find out more about him on his website and be sure to catch the yuck-a-minute video for “Chick a Boom Boom Boom".

Then we have a new band right off of Melrose Avenue circa 1980 - Manda and the Marbles. They could have opened for the GoGo’s. This hit is “Ode to Rock” from their album “Angels with Dirty Faces” Ha! It’s a blast. Their album launches February 22 and you can find out all about them on their website.

Many thanks Marc. He promises more to come.

The Ed Briggs Interview - Part 1

Be My Guest - January 9, 2005

Ed Briggs is a New York Painter and Set Decorator on Law & Order. He’s been exposing me to new music since I was a pesky teen, but in this interview he rises to the challenge of songs from his past that inspired him in his art and love for music. What might appear to be a quieter Ed in this first segment, you’ll see is not the case as we see in the second segment when he opens up with some crashier pieces by The Pixies and Blur.

Intro: Haitian Fight Song - David Byrne - Lead Us Not Into Temptation
Peter Gunn - Henry Mancini - The Music from Peter Gunn
Subterranean Homesick Blues - Bob Dylan - Bringing it all Back Home

The Steve Smith Interviews

Be My Guest - 2004 05 2004

First in a series of two interviews with Steve Smith - Music industry type. Steve launched Lenny Kravitz, was the guy who introduced the tv viewing audience to hip hop, and even has a social conscience. Steve and I once got chased out of a bar in LA in the early 80’s called the Double Zero club, lots of post punk types, but not before we loaded up our pockets with the cheap beer from the broken down refrigerators in the club.

There are plenty of “uhs” in the interview, but uh, what do you want?

Featured in the Set:

Intro: Haitian Fight Song - David Byrne - Lead Us Not Into Temptation
Goin’ Out of My Head - Three Peas in a Pod - from the LP, “Three Pea’s In A Podd” (String Bean Productions PRSD-2190)
Triptico - Gotan Project - Buddha Bar III
Instant Karma - John Lennon and Yoko Ono - Shaved Fish
Let Love Rule - Lenny Kravitz - Let Love Rule
Could You Be Loved - Bob Marley - Legend
